Richard Shankle Earns Patriot League Football Weekly Honorable Mention

Junior defensive end Richard Shankle named Patriot League Football Weekly Honorable Mention.

WASHINGTON - Junior defensive end Richard Shankle (Atlanta, Ga./South Gwinnett) earned Patriot League Football Weekly Honorable Mention after setting a career-high with 11 tackles to go with one sack, one pass breakup and two quarterback hurries on Saturday in a loss to Princeton.

Shankle earns the first Patriot League weekly honor of his career. On the season, Shankle is fifth on the Hoyas with 25 tackles and fourth on the team with 2.5 tackles for loss on a defense that has registered 23 TFL's through five games. Shankle is the third Georgetown football player to earn Patriot League weekly honors this season, joining Dustin Wharton and Isaiah Kempf.

Shankle and the Hoyas go into its bye week, before hosting undefeated No. 12 Fordham on October 12. The Hoyas follow its game with Fordham with another ranked opponent when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to take on No. 13 Lehigh on Saturday, October 19.
