WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team hits the road this weekend for the first of two-straight Patriot League games, first visiting Bucknell on Saturday, Oct. 3. Kickoff at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium is slated for 1 p.m.
A free live audio broadcast of the game will be available on the Georgetown Athletics website -www.guhoyas.com - with Chuck Timanus providing the call.
The Hoyas (0-4, 0-2) will be seeking their first win of the season and first in the conference when they kick off against the Bison, who enter the game with a 2-2 overall record, and will be playing their first Patriot League game. Georgetown is the only team in the Patriot League to have played more than one league game so far this season.
This will be the 22nd meeting all-time between the schools, with Bucknell leading the head-to-head series, 11-9-1. The Bison posted a 27-24 win over the Hoyas last year in the District. Georgetown's last win in the series was a 20-17 overtime win over Bucknell in 2007.
Freshman quarterback Isaiah Kempf (Glendale, Ariz. / Oaks Christian-Bridgton) has started the last two games for the Hoyas, earning Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors on Sept. 21. Kempf completed 32-of-59 passes for 332 yards against Yale in his first collegiate start.
In two starts, Kempf has completed 55-of-108 passes for 564 yards. Overall in three games, he has completed 50.8 percent of his passes for 645 yards.
Georgetown fell to 0-4 last week after a rally from a 14-3 fourth quarter deficit fell short in a 14-11 loss to Howard. Kempf threw a 17-yard scoring pass to sophomore wide receiver Dishon Hughes (Richardson, Texas/JJ Pearce) in the fourth quarter as the Hoyas pulled to 14-11. Hughes, who caught four passes for 79 yards, was one of seven Georgetown receivers to catch passes in the game.
Junior linebacker Nick Parrish (Irving, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) leads the Patriot League in tackles and is one of four players among the top-20. Parrish has 44 tackles this season and his 11.0-per game average ranks second in the league, and 17th in the country.
Sophomore defensive back David Quintero (Miramar, Fla./Ft. Lauderdale) ranks seventh in the league with 35 tackles, an 8.8 per game average and senior Paul Sant'Ambrogio (Bloomfield, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) is tied for 18th with 24 tackles. Sophomore defensive end Andrew Schaetzke (Toledo, Ohio / St. John's Jesuit) is 14th in the league with 26 tackles and leads the Patriot League in quarterback sacks (3.5) and tackles-for-loss (6.5).
Georgetown remains on the road next weekend, visiting Lehigh on Saturday, Oct. 10.
