Oct. 12, 2010

WASHINGTON - Junior cornerback Jayah Kaisamba (Fort Worth, Texas/LD Bell) and freshman punter Matt MacZura (Cranberry Township, Pa./Central Catholic) each earned Weekly Performer of the Week Honorable Mention distinctions from CollegeFootballPerformance.com when honors were announced on the web site on Monday evening.

Kaisamba intercepted two passes against Wagner on Saturday in the Hoyas 22-16 double overtime loss. He also had seven tackles and half a tackle for loss, helping him earn Defensive Back Performer of the Week Honorable Mention. Kaisamba currently leads the Patriot League with four interceptions and is tied for 11th in Division I FCS, averaging 0.67 interceptions per game.

MacZura, who earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Sept. 20, was rewarded as Punter Performer of the Week after punting six times for 283 yards with a long of 70. Three times MacZura pinned the Seahawks inside their own 20 yard line on Saturday, helping the Hoyas in the battle for field position.

The College Football Performance Awards are selected based upon objective scientific rankings to the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.

The Hoyas return to action on Saturday, October 16 at Multi Sport Field when they host Patriot League rival Bucknell at 1:05 p.m. The game will be broadcast locally on Verizon Fios1 with Matt Fetters and Dave McHugh calling all of the action. Georgetown will also provide a live stream of the game, available at the Hoyas official athletic website - www.GUHoyas.com with Chuck Timanus providing all the calls.
