Matthew Buckman Named CFPA Weekly National Tight End Honorable Mention

Matthew Buckman was named a CFPA Weekly honorable mention.

WASHINGTON - Sophomore tight end Matthew Buckman (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Saint Joseph's) earned College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) National Tight End of the Week honorable mention when weekly awards were announced on Tuesday morning.

Buckman posted a career-high 83 yards on four catches, including a 67-yard touchdown reception in the first quarter against Bucknell. Buckman's 67-yard touchdown reception was the longest play from scrimmage for the Hoyas this season.

In his first season as a starter, Buckman leads the Hoyas with 342 receiving yards on 25 catches and two touchdowns. He currently leads all Patriot League tight ends in receiving yards through eight games. The weekly honor is the first of Buckman's career.

Buckman and the Hoyas host Patriot League foe Lehigh on Saturday, November 1. Kickoff between the Hoyas and Mountain Hawks is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. A live broadcast of Saturday's game will be available via HoyaVision on the Georgetown University Athletics official website -
