WASHINGTON - WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team (1-7, 0-2 Patriot League) will host Lafayette College (2-5, 2-0 Patriot League) on Senior Day at Multi-Sport Field on Saturday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:07 p.m., following a pre-game ceremony to honor the Hoyas 24 seniors. GU trails the all-time series with the Leopards 6-10, though the Hoyas senior class has never lost to Lafayette, winning the last three matchups.
Fans can watch live streaming coverage of the game via the Georgetown Athletics official website - www.guhoyas.com. The broadcast will feature Matt Fetters on play-by-play with Chuck Timanus and Brandon Small providing commentary. Monika Moore and Monica McNutt will provide reports from the sideline. In-game updates will be available through the Hoyas official twitter account: @HoyasFB or on Instagram at GUHoyasFB. The game can also be viewed on ESPN3.
The Hoyas will look to snap a seven-game losing streak and win its first Patriot League game of the season during its home-finale against Lafayette. Georgetown has won the last three meetings with the Leopards by a combined eight points. Last Saturday, the Blue & Gray fell to Colgate, 34-14, despite senior wide receiver Zack Wilke's career-game of eight catches for 155 yards and a team season-long 55 yard touchdown reception. Sophomore quarterback Kyle Nolan, making his second start of the season, completed 23-of-40 passes for 257 yards, one touchdown pass and one rushing touchdown.
SENIOR DAY...Georgetown will honor 24 seniors for their service to the program. This year's seniors are the winningest group in program history since GU joined the Patriot League. The class includes: LB Shanon Adams, WR Aaron Aiken, OL John Alexander, DB Stephen Atwater, DB Malcolm Caldwell-Meeks, RB Nick Campanella, DL Sean Campbell, WR Mike Cimilluca, RB Dalen Claytor, DL Charlie Dann, OL Ray DeLorenzo, RB Brandon Durham, OL Fred Eggert, OL Mike Francis, QB Isaiah Kempf, PK Matt MacZura, student coach Ryan McGreer, WR Ellliott Owusu, K Devon Papandrew, DL John Porter, OL James Spaly, TE Dan Sprotte, LB Dustin Wharton, WR Zack Wilke, DB Rohan Williamson.
HOYAS IN THE RED ZONE...Georgetown had an uncharacteristic day in the red zone against Colgate, failing to score in two of three opportunities. The Hoyas had been 19-of-21, among the top 15 in the nation in red zone efficiency, but are now 21-of-24, tied for 46th in the nation, when crossing the opposing team's 20 yard line. Nick Campanella has five rushing touchdowns and one TD catch, while Jo'el Kimpela and Isaiah Kempf each have two rushing TD's. TE Dan Sprotte, WR Mike Cimilluca and WR Jake DeCicco each have two receiving touchdowns.
NOLAN UNDER CENTER...Sophomore QB Kyle Nolan has now taken snaps under center in six collegiate games, completing 83-of-158 for 925 yards six touchdowns and four interceptions. He also added his first rushing touchdown against Colgate last Saturday. This Saturday's game with the Leopards will be his fifth career start. He earned his lone starting victory against Lafayette last season.
CLIMBING THE RECORD BOOKS...QB Isaiah Kempf now is the Hoyas all-time leader in pass attempts (809) and completions (433),while he is third in passing yardage with 4,354 career yards...Nick Campanella is fifth in GU history with 20 rushing touchdowns...Dustin Wharton is fifth in GU history with 256 career tackles. ABOUT LAFAYETTE... Freshman QB Drew Reed was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after completing 21-of-22 passes for 283 yards and five touchdowns in a win over Holy Cross. Reed completed 20 consecutive passes, tying Michael Nebrich, who set that record against GU earlier this season...Senior WR Mark Ross became the Leopards all-time leading receiver after his eight-catch 151 yard day against Holy Cross. Ross is also Lafayette's career leader in touchdowns (24)...After a tough non-conference schedule, the Leopards have played its best football against PL opponents, going 2-0 in the league, tying Holy Cross for first place in the PL. A win against GU would be Lafayette's first 3-0 start in league play since 2009...The Leopards are currently 12th in the nation, returning the ball an average of 21.4 yards per kick. Sophomore corner Matt Smalley is fourth in the nation individually, averaging 31.3 yards per kick return.
