Nov. 5, 2009

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team returns to play again this weekend, traveling to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. for a Saturday afternoon matchup with Marist. The Hoyas will kick off against the Red Foxes on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. at Leonidoff Field.

A live audio broadcast of the game will be available on the Georgetown Athletics website - www.guhoyas.com - with Chuck Timanus providing all of the calls. Live stats for the game will also be available.

Georgetown enters the game with an 0-8 overall record and an 0-5 mark in the Patriot League. The Red Foxes enter the game with a 5-3 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the Pioneer League. Georgetown's last win was a 13-12 decision over Marist on Nov. 8 last year at the Multi-Sport Field. In that game, junior running back Philip Oladeji (Plano, Texas/Plano East) carried the ball 13 times for 100 yards, while junior Keerome Lawrence (West Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) threw an 18-yard touchdown pass and senior kicker Jose-Pablo Buerba (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy College Prep) booted a pair of field goals.

Senior running back Charlie Houghton (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Phillips Academy) ran for 112 yards last week against Old Dominion and returned five kickoffs for 122 yards. Two years ago at Marist, Houghton had one of the best days of his career, carrying the ball 27 times for 163 yards and four touchdowns in a 37-34 loss to the Red Foxes.

Houghton has been effective for the Hoyas this year, appearing in all but one game. He has rushed for 245 yards and is third on the team in receptions with 19 for 111 yards. The senior also leads the team with 439 kick return yards. Houghton is second in the Patriot League in all-purpose yardage, averaging 113.6 yards per game.
