Hoya Notes:

From the Desk of Head Football Coach Kevin Kelly

Dear family, friends and fans,

This past Saturday was Senior Day, and I wanted to thank all of the parents and families of our 24 seniors for the opportunity to coach their sons. It's a responsibility that none of us take lightly and I am proud of all that these young men have accomplished and will accomplish in life. This is a class that has done a lot for this University and they deserve everyone's respect for the amount of work that they put in year around.

I also wanted to note that the amount of support from all of you throughout the season has not gone unnoticed. I wanted to take a second to thank everyone who was able to come out to see us at Multi-Sport Field in 2013. Your support is felt throughout the program and very much appreciated.

As for the game, we are obviously disappointed with the loss. At the same time, we had some great individual performers. Daniel Sprotte was named the CFPA National Tight End of the Week and Patriot League weekly honorable mention after he his 11 catches, 102 yards and two touchdowns. Dan is a team captain and a guy that has worked very hard to make himself into a big player for us, so it is nice to see him get this recognition. Alec May also had one of the best days of his career with 12 tackles, 3.0 sacks, 3.0 tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry to earn CFPA National Defensive honorable mention and Patriot League weekly honorable mention.

This is a bye week, so it's an opportunity to get some guys healthy, and for our student-athletes to get caught up on their classwork. We had Monday and Tuesday off and then we were back on the field this morning. We will practice on Thursday and Friday, before giving everyone the weekend off, then we have five more days to prepare for Bucknell.

Bucknell is a very much improved team over the last few weeks, so we will all be watching to see how they look against Fordham on Saturday. They've had big wins against Lehigh and Colgate, so every day and every rep will count for us before we leave for Lewisburg, Pa.

Finally, I wanted to wish men's and women's soccer luck as they prepare for their postseasons within the next week. Also, best of luck to men's and women's basketball when they open their seasons on Friday night.

Win the Day!

Coach Kelly
