Georgetown Travels to Bucknell for Final Road Game

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University football team hits the road this weekend, traveling to Bucknell for its final road game of the season. Kickoff at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium is scheduled for noon on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The game will be broadcast live on the Patriot League Network, with Kevin Herr calling the play-by-play and Matt Catrillo providing color analysis. A link to the broadcast as well as live stats will be available at

Hoyas Fall to Bucknell, 21-7, on Senior Day
The Georgetown University football team fell in its final home game of the season, 21-7, to Bucknell University on Saturday evening. The loss, GU’s seventh-straight setback, dropped the Hoyas to 3-7 overall and 0-5 in Patriot League Play.

Last Time Out
Despite finishing with more total yards of offense, the Hoyas fell to Lafayette, 7-0, last Saturday. Georgetown's defense only allowed 166 yards of offense all day, holding the Leopards to 101 yards in the air and 65 yards on 36 rushes. Khristian Tate (Warner Robins, Ga./Covenant Academy) was named Patriot League Honorable Mention, leading the way with a career-high 11 tackles, including 2.5 tackles-for-loss (TFL) and one sack. Daniel Yankovich (Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco Prep) was also in double figures with 10 tackles, adding 2.0 TFL.

Approaching Milestones
Michael Dereus (Hyde Park, Mass./Williston Northampton) leads the Hoyas in every receiving category this season, including catches (37), yards (633), yards per catch (17.1) and touchdowns (5). He needs just 11 catches, 86 receiving yards and one more touchdown to climb into Georgetown's single-season top 10. His yards per catch mark is currently tied for 10th in program history.

David Akere (Carrollton, Texas/Hebron) leads the defense with 76 tackles on the season, ranking fourth in the Patriot League, and needs just three more tackles to set a new career high. He currently has 251 career tackles, which ranks seventh all-time in the Georgetown record books. He needs just 10 more tackles to pass Jim Bolger ('92) for sixth.



About the Matchup
Georgetown is 10-18-1 all-time against Bucknell, and the Bison ha have won three of the past five meetings, with Georgetown's last victory coming in 2015 in Lewisburg, Pa., 17-9. In last season's matchup, Bucknell defeated Hoyas on the Hilltop, 21-7, on GU's Senior Day. Jim McLaughlin (Fairfax, Va./WT Woodson) had career highs of six receptions, 77 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Scouting Bucknell
The Bison sit at 4-5 on the season and 1-3 in Patriot League play. They are coming off back-to-back losses to Colgate (40-3) and Lehigh (42-21). Bucknell's offense, which comes in averaging 18.2 points per game, is led by the rushing attack of Chad Freshnock (435 yards, 6 touchdowns) and Joey DeFloria (304 yards, 2 touchdowns). Against Lehigh last week, Freshnock ran for 175 yards on 16 carries and three touchdowns, including an 85-yard score.

The defense, which allows a Patriot League-best 310.3 yards per game, is led by Ben Richard and Mark Pyles, who have 69 and 68 tackles on the season, respectively. Simeon Page has recorded a team-high 4.5 sacks.

Looking Ahead
Georgetown will return home to Cooper Field for the season finale on Saturday, Nov. 18 when the Hoyas host Colgate in a 1 p.m. contest. Georgetown will recognize its 27 seniors in a pregame Senior Day ceremony.
