WASHINGTON - Senior linebacker Robert McCabe (Newtown Square, Pa./Malvern Prep) earned Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season and freshman running back Jo'el Kimpela (Kinshasa, D.R. Congo/Euless Trinity) earned PL Rookie of the Week for the second consecutive week after the Georgetown University football team (5-5, 2-2 Patriot League) defeated Bucknell, 10-3 on Saturday afternoon.
McCabe led the Hoyas with 12 tackles and a season-high two sacks, as the Hoyas defense held Bucknell to 168 yards and 0-of-11 on third downs. McCabe also broke his own single-season tackles school record in the first quarter and now has 144 tackles on the season, the most in Division I FCS. McCabe has 18 consecutive double-digit tackle games. This is the fourth career Defensive Player of the Week honor received by McCabe and his third this season.
Kimpela earned his second consecutive rookie of the week honor after compiling 126 total yards in the Hoyas win. Kimpela carried the ball 19 times for a career-high 98 yards and caught three passes for 28 yards, also a career-high.
Georgetown football hosts Holy Cross on Saturday, November 17, with kick-off slated for 1:05 p.m. Saturday will also be senior day for the Hoyas, as the accomplishments of the program's seniors will be recognized in a pre-game ceremony on the field.
