11/15/2003
Box Score The Hoyas got off to a quick start with a 48-yard Sims touchdown run on the Hoyas’ second play from scrimmage. After, missing the PAT, the Hoyas owned a 6-0 lead. The offense subsequently cooled down, and the Hoyas found themselves holding a slim 6-3 lead late in the second quarter. With only 2:56 remaining in the first half, the Hoya offense came together and provided the team with a cushion going into the half. Set up by a 41-yard completion from Drew Crawford (Jr., Superior, Colo./Fairview ) to Glenn Castergine (So., Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J./Northern Highlands), versatile quarterback Alondzo Turner (Fr., Capitol Heights, Md. / Bladensburg) took it in from five yards out to give the Hoyas a 13-3 halftime lead. Georgetown extended their lead to 23-3 in the third quarter on a Michael Gillman (So., Miami, Fla./Killian) field goal and another Sims touchdown. In the fourth, Davidson was able to capitalize on a Georgetown fumble on a punt return to narrow the margin to 23-10, but Sims immediately came up big again, going 68 yards for his third touchdown of the day, sealing the game for the Hoyas. Sims’ rushing total of 268 broke the old Georgetown record of 215 set by Dean Lowry in 1988. Georgetown’s team rushing total of 395 yards ranked third on their all-time list, and was their highest total since 1996. The Hoya defense compiled five sacks and three interceptions. Michael Ononibaku (So., Amherst, Mass./Amherst) led the Hoya sack effort with two, giving him eight on the year, while Andrew Clarke (Sr., Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood), Byron Anderson (Jr., Montgomery Village, Md./DeMatha) and Jackson Dismukes (Jr., Falls Church, Va./Marshall) all recorded interceptions. The Hoyas close the 2003 season at Bucknell next Saturday, November 22, at 1 p.m.
