WASHINGTON - Freshman defensive end Dezmond Richardson (Euless, Texas/Euless Trinity) was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, after a five tackle one sack performance in the Georgetown University football team's season-finale loss to Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon.

Richardson's five tackles was two short of his season-high, while he also recorded his second sack of his collegiate career against Holy Cross. Richardson, who moved into the starting lineup during the Hoyas fourth game of the season at Princeton recorded 30 total tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup during his freshman season.

He earned his first Patriot League Rookie of the Week after the Hoyas victory against Princeton, a game that was his first as a starter on the Hoyas defense.

Hoyas have earned a league-high five PL Rookie of the Week honors this season, including four in the last five weeks with Richardson and his high school teammate Jo'el Kimpela (Kinshasa, D.R. Congo/Euless Trinity) earning two and freshman quarterback Kyle Nolan (Branford, Conn./Choate Rosemary Hall) earning one.
