Box Score

LEWISBURG, Pa.  – Georgetown fell behind 24-3 at halftime and could not overcome Bucknell in both team’s season finale, falling 45-16 Saturday at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.

Luke McArdle (Boxford, Mass./Masconomet Regional (Phillips Academy)) led all players with nine receptions for 99 yards for Georgetown. In doing so he set a Georgetown single season record for receiving yards with 1,118. Drew Crawford (Superior, Colo./Fairview) completed 18 of 36 passes for 218 yards and a touchdown for Georgetown, which finishes 4-8, 1-6.

Bucknell racked up 532 total yards, including 326 on the ground, while the defense forced three turnovers and came up with five sacks.

Bucknell scored touchdowns on its first three possessions to grab an early 21-3 lead. Quarterback Daris Wilson scored from three yards out to open the scoring just 3:39 into the contest. Freshman Ed Cortez keyed the drive with 46 rushing yards on three carries.

After Michael Gillman (Miami, Fla./Killian) made it 7-3 with a 24-yard field goal, Bucknell used some trickery for its second score of the day. Wilson threw a lateral pass to Michael Cangelosi, who tossed a 38-yard touchdown strike to a wide-open Marquardt.

The Bison entered half up 24-3, capitalizing on two Georgetown turnovers.

John Henry Jackson, subbing for a hobbled Wilson, tossed a 9-yard TD pass to Marquardt to make it 31-3 less than four minutes into the second half.

Alondzo Turner’s (Capitol Heights, Md./Bladensburg) 21-yard scamper brought Georgetown within 31-10 with 8:25 left in the third quarter, and the Hoyas were driving again on their next series when BU defensive tackle Shawn Tidwell made a key tackle on Kim Sarin (Roseville, Minn./Cretin-Derham) in the backfield for a 1-yard loss on 4th-and-1. The Bison capitalized 11 plays later with a touchdown.

Crawford’s 10-yard touchdown pass to Walter Bowser (St. Paul, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) with 9:21 remaining made it 38-16, and Johnson finished the scoring with a 13-yard TD run with 4:40 left.

John Sims (Monaca, Pa /Center) was the Hoyas’ leading rusher with 81 yards on 17 carries. Sims also hauled in four receptions for 85 yards.
