Dalen Claytor Named Patriot League Rookie of the Week

WASHINGTON - Freshman running back Dalen Claytor (Dunwoody, Ga./Dunwoody) was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week, after compiling 61 all-purpose yards and scoring the game-winning touchdown in Georgetown football's 14-7 season-ending victory over Marist on Saturday afternoon at Multi-Sport Field.

It was the first weekly honor in the young career of Claytor, who scored his first collegiate touchdown in the previous week on a nine-yard run against Lehigh. On Saturday, Claytor carried the ball four times for 34 yards, including a second quarter 17-yard touchdown that proved to be the game-winner for Georgetown. He also made three catches for 27 yards against the Red Foxes.

The Dunwoody, Ga. native concluded his freshman season with 106 yards on 19 carries with two-touchdowns. He made 19 catches for 147 yards and had 120 yards on five kick-off returns for 373 all purpose yards.

Junior defensive end Andrew Schaetzke earned Patriot League honorable mention after an eight tackle, 2.5 sack, 2.5 tackle for loss and one interception performance against Marist on Saturday. Schaetzke a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week and candidate for Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year finished the season with nine sacks, 15 tackles for loss seven passes defended and two interceptions, all totals placing him in the top ten in the league in the respective category.

The Hoyas concluded the season with a 14-7 win over Marist to finish the season 4-7. the team's best record since finishing 4-7 in 2005. The Hoyas also tied a program mark with two Patriot League victories, staying in contention for the league title until its final league game against Lehigh on Nov. 13.
