Andrew Schaetzke and Jayah Kaisamba Named First Team All Patriot League; Nick Parrish and Jeremy Moore Named to Second Team

Nov. 23, 2010

WASHINGTON - Junior defensive end Andrew Schaetzke (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) and junior cornerback Jayah Kaisamba (Fort Worth, Texas/LD Bell) were named All Patriot League First Team and senior linebacker Nick Parrish (Irving, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) and sophomore cornerback Jeremy Moore (New Haven, Conn./James Hillhouse) were named to the Second Team when the league announced its post-season awards on Tuesday morning.

With four players making all league teams, the Hoyas set a program high in that department, surpassing the three players that were named All Patriot League in each 2003, 2004 and 2005. This season also marks the first time the Blue & Gray have had two players named to the First Team. Of the four players named All Patriot League, three are set to return for 2011.

Andrew Schaetzke, a two-time Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week honoree, the only defensive player in the league to garner the award twice, placed in the top two in the league in sacks (9), tackles for loss (15-100 yards), and in the top ten in passes defended (7) and interceptions (2).

"To me, Andrew Schaetzke is the best defensive player in the league," Kelly said. "He's been an impact player for us and we're excited to have him back next year."

Jayah Kaisamba joins Schaetzke on the first team, finishing second in the league and tied for 17th in Division I FCS with five interceptions. Kaisamba was second in the league with 11 passes defended, ranking him 30th in the nation in that category. Kaisamba helped Georgetown finish first in the league and fifth in the nation with 18 total interceptions. Kaisamba finished the season with 69 tackles, 2.0 sacks and a forced fumble.

"Jayah has greatly improved throughout his career," Kelly said. "I think that was evident in his production this season. His ability to create turnovers for us was huge."

Nick Parrish, Georgetown's all-time career leader in tackles with 349, earns the first Patriot League post season honor of his career. An inside linebacker, Parrish led the Hoyas in tackles this season with 92, including 2.5 tackles for loss, three passes defended and a fumble recovery. Parrish broke the Hoyas career tackles record during Georgetown's Sept. 11 win over Lafayette. Parrish will join several other Patriot League players in the Division I FCS Senior Scout Bowl on Dec. 11 in Hillburn, N.Y.

"He's been our defensive leader for the past four years and the leading tackler in the history of the program," Kelly said. "It's nice to see him get accolades after four years at Georgetown."

Jeremy Moore was one of just two sophomores named All Patriot League, after establishing himself as one of the top defensive backs and kick returners in the league. Moore led the Patriot League in passes defended with 11 break ups and one interception. Moore also finished third in the Patriot League with a 26.9 kick return average, a mark that places him second in the history of the Georgetown football program. Against Yale, Moore became just the ninth Hoya to return a kick for a touchdown, going 85 yards for a score.

"Jeremy was one of the best defensive backs in the league," Kelly said. "His impact was felt on defense and special teams for us this season."
