WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's golf standout Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) led the Hoyas to a tie for third place out of 13 teams at the Wildcat Invitational. Podufal shot a team best 218 (71-75-72), which was four strokes off the leader and good for a tie at third overall, on the par 71, 7,055 yard course at White Manor Country Club in Malvern, Pa.
As a team the Hoyas shot a +53, 905 (299-303-303), during the three rounds of the invite, tying with host Villanova for third place. Winning the team title was Temple with a +48, 900. Second place was claimed by Rhode Island, three strokes off the lead. The individual champion was Brandon Shattuck of Delaware with a three round total of 214 (+1).
Podufal carded a 72 in his final round earlier today, recording four birdies and scoring par on 10 holes. In his first round on Monday, Podufal was one of only four players to birdie the par 4, 468 yard, 13th hole in any of the three rounds.
Senior captain Justin Edwards (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake Village) saved his best round of the tournament for the end, hitting a one-over 72, after recording a Hoya high of five birdies. Edwards tied for 17th place after starting the day tied for 38th, finishing with a total of 157 (83-74-72).
Freshman Raleigh Chapin (Doylestown, Pa./New Hope Solebury) closed the tournament with an 81 finishing in a tie for 22nd place with a 54-hole total of 231 (72-78-80). Brian Tohir (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) shot a 78 in round three tying for 35th place (80-76-78=234).
Closing out the Hoya scoring was senior Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) in a tie for 48th place (76-78-83=237).

The Hoyas next hit the fairways on Saturday, April 13, and Sunday, April 14, at the Princeton Invitational held at Springdale Golf Club in Princeton, N.J.
