Georgetown Men's Golf 13th at Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's golf team posted a first round score of 28-over par 316 and stands in 13th place of 17 teams after the first round of play at the Ironwood Pirate Intercollegiate, being hosted by East Carolina University at the Ironwood Golf & Country Club in Greenville, N.C.
Host East Carolina shot a 3-over par 291 and leads Newberry College, second at 12-over par 300, by nine strokes. Rhode Island is third (13-over par 301), with James Madison and UNC-Wilmington tied for fourth place (14-over par 302). Wofford College and Seton Hall are tied for sixth place (15-over par 303), Samford and St. John's are tied for eighth (18-over par 306) and Furman is in 10th place at 22-over par 310.
Rhode Island's Taylor Fontaine fired a six-under par 66 on the first 18 holes and leads the field of 93 golfers by fie strokes. Markus Leandersson and David Watkins of ECU are tied for second place at 1-under par 71.
Seniors Garrett Logan (Henderson, Nev./Bishop Gorman) and Patrick Sherry (Brookeville, Md./Landon) are tied for 62nd place at 8-over par 80, while junior Vincenzo Salina (Vandoeuvres, Switzerland/Institut Florimont) is tied for 70th place at 9-over par 81.
