Moosavian Leads Hoyas to Eighth Place at Rutherford Intercollegiate

WASHINGTON - Georgetown University's men's golf team sits in eighth place at the Rutherford Intercollegiate hosted by Penn State University after 36 holes. The Hoyas posted a two round total of 38-over par 606 (307-299). Leading the competition is Maryland at 21-over par 589 (302-287). Georgetown freshman Matthew Moosavian (Westerville, Ohio/St. Charles Prep), seeing his first action as a Hoya, is tied for fourth overall with a four-over par 146 (74-72). Prior to the Rutherford Moosavian had played only three rounds of competition for the Hoyas, as an individual at the Georgetown Intercollegiate. Senior Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) sits tied at 28th after shooting a consistent 76 each round (152). Fellow senior and captain Justin Edwards (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake Village) is tied for 50th (76-80=156). Rounding out the Hoya five are Charlie vonArentschildt (Scottsdale, Ariz./Deerfield Academy) and Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep). The junior vonArentschildt is playing in his first tournament of the spring and is tied with Edwards for 50th (81-75=156). Podufal had a tough opening round of 82 and followed it up with a 76 to tie for 58th (158). The Rutherford Intercollegiate continues on Sunday, April 21, with the final 18 being played. Tee times are set for 7:30 a.m. on Penn State's Blue Course.
