ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Georgetown University men's golf team is currently third overall through 36 holes, while junior Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) is third on the leaderboard at the Notre Dame Oak Hill Intercollegiate at Oak Hill Country Club.
The Hoyas finished the day with a team score of 598 after carding a 297 in the first round and a 301 in the second round. With 18 holes left to play at the par 70, 7,145 yard Oak Hill Country Club the Blue & Gray trails. Notre Dame (574) and Nebraska (581). GU lead Boston College (599), Rochester (626), St. Bonaventure (628) and Canisiuis (647).
Podufal turned in back-to-back even-par 70 rounds for an overall 140 to trail the tournament leader Niall Platt of Notre Dame by three strokes. He is one stroke behind Nebraska's Matt Record for second place.
Freshman Austin Rendell (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier) fired consecutive five-over par 75 rounds to sit in a tie for 14th place with one round remaining. Senior Charlie vonArentschildt (Scottsdale, Ariz./Deerfield Academy) is 16th overall after finishing 11-over par 151 over the first 36 holes, while senior Ed McCrossen (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) is tied for 25th after shooting a 17-over par 157.
Sophomore Matthew Moosavian (Westerville, Ohio/St. Charles Prep) rounds out the Hoyas starters after turning in consecutive rounds of 79 for a 158 total through two rounds to tie for 28th place of 45 golfers.
Play will at the Notre Dame Oak Hill Intercollegiate will conclude on Tuesday. The final round will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, N.Y.
