Georgetown Men's Golf Finishes 13th at Adams Cup

Washington, D.C. - Georgetown University senior men's golfer Matt Myers (St. Joseph, Mo./Central) finished tied for 18th place overall, leading the Hoya men's golf team to a 13th place finish at the Adams Cup of Newport, held at the Newport National Golf Club in Rhode Island.
Texas A&M shot a combined three round score of 31-over par 895 and won the two-day event by five strokes over North Carolina, second at 36-over par 900. The University of South Carolina-Aiken, which held a three stroke lead after Monday's first round, finished in third place (43-over par 907), followed by Rhode Island (54-over par 918) and South Florida (63-over par 927). They were followed by Texas-San Antonio, North Texas, Virginia Commonwealth, Southeastern Louisiana, Furman, Iowa State, Marshall, Georgetown, Yale, East Carolina and Bryant University. Martin Ureta of North Carolina fired a three-under par 69 and finished at even-par 216 to take medalist honors.
Myers posted rounds of five-over par 77, and four-over par 76 to finish at 15-over par 231 overall, leading the Hoya squad. Junior Matt Busa (Cleveland, Ohio/St. Ignatius) tied for 25th place, carding a 17-over par 233. Senior David Erikson (Edina, Minn./The Blake School) tied for 59th place at 25-over par 241, junior Tim Moynihan (Murraysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) tied for 66th place at 27-over par 243 and freshman Tim Hager (Ivyland, Pa.) finished tied for 77th place, shooting a 36-over par 252.
Georgetown returns to action on October 3-4, playing at the William & Mary Invitational.
