BEALLSVILLE, Md. - After the first two rounds of the 28th annual Georgetown Intercollegiate men's golf tournament played at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md., Toledo is in first place out of 12 teams, shooting a 575 (290-285). Georgetown resides in ninth place with a 594 (295-299).
In second place on the par 71, 6,952 yard course is Notre Dame (576). Following the Irish in order are: Michigan State (580), Penn State (583), Eastern Michigan (584), William & Mary (587), Xavier (588), West Florida (593), Georgetown (594), DePaul (595), Miami of Ohio (596) and St. Joseph's (615).
The top individual golfer at the event after two rounds is Eastern Michigan's Brian Churchill Smith, who is four under after shooting back to back 69s. One stroke back in second place is Toledo's Chris Selfridge (69-70).
Georgetown's Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Catholic Prep) tied for the lead after round one with three other golfers after firing a 2-under 69. His two round total of 147 places him in a tie for 21st place (69-78). Playing even with Podufal was Brad Cadigan (South Weymouth, Mass./Boston College H.S.) who is also in 21st after his two round total of 147 (75-72).
Fellow Hoya Raleigh Chapin (Doylestown, Pa./New Hope Solebury) opened the day up with a 72 on his way to finishing with a 151 (72-79) which puts him in a tie at 42nd. Justin Edwards (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake Village) fired a 72 in round two and is tied for 47th (81-72). Charlie vonArentschildt (Scottsdale, Ariz./Deerfield Academy) is tied for 59th after shooting a 156 (79-77).
The final round will be played on Tuesday, October 23 with an 8:30 a.m. start.
