Sophomore Greg Podufal leads the Hoyas into the Wildcat Invitational.

WASHINGTON - After its first spring event was snowed out after one round the Georgetown University men's golf team heads to the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Villanova University on April 1 through April 2. The Invitational will be played at White Manor Golf Club in Malvern, Pa.

Round one begins at 8 a.m. as 12 teams compete for the team title. Army, Bucknell, Delaware, Drexel, Fordham, Georgetown, LaSalle, Rhode Island, St. Joseph's (Pa.), Temple, Villanova and Youngstown State will all compete in the 54-hole event.

"We travel to the Philadelphia area and compete in the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Villanova," commented Head Coach Tommy Hunter. "The White Manor Golf Club presents a difficult test - the golf course is" big" in every sense of the word, long, lots of undulation, and severe. In fact, it may be one of the most difficult courses we compete on all year. That said, we will have to play with a great deal of focus and patience. Looks as though the weather will be a bit better than our opening event - we are looking forward to getting all 54 holes of competition in."

The Hoyas will be sending the same five student-athletes who played last weekend at the C&F Bank Intercollegiate, which was limited to just 18 holes. Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep), Curtis Loop (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan), Justin Edwards (Westlake Village, Calif./Westlake Village), Brian Tohir (New Canaan, Conn./New Canaan) and Raleigh Chapin (Doylestown, Pa./New Hope Solebury) will all be competing for the Blue and Gray.

Loop had the top score for the Hoyas last week with a one-over 71, tying for 14th overall. He was followed by Podufal who carded a four-over 74 and tied for 40th. This will be Loop's sixth competition of the 2012-13 season while Podufal has seen the most action of the season, playing 15 rounds.

For Edwards, Tohir and Chapin the Wildcat Invitational will be their sixth competition of the full season as well.
