WASHINGTON - Georgetown University senior men's golfers Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) and Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Trinity Catholic) were both named to the 14-player All-BIG EAST Team, announced on Thursday afternoon.
The senior co-captains helped lead the Hoyas to a fifth place finish at the BIG EAST Championship last week, capping off a 2011-12 season in which the team finished among the top-five five times and among the top-10 in seven of 10 tournaments played.
Dorfman and Hall were the final members of the 2010 BIG EAST Championship to graduate. Both players were sophomores and among the team's starting five that won the title and competed in the NCAA South Central Regional in Texas.
Dorfman capped off a brilliant career on the Hilltop by leading the team in stroke average at 73.48 for the season. He posted four top-10 finishes this year and six among the top-20 in 10 tournaments. Dorfman also won two tournaments, firing a 7-under par 206 to capture the individual title at the Maryland Intercollegiate and then shooting a 3-under par 210 to win the Bearcat Invitational.
In 98 career rounds, Dorfman posted a career stroke average of 74.84 and had three career wins, seven top-10 finishes and 12 among the top-20.
Hall, meanwhile, finished second on the team in stroke average at 74.21. He saved his best for last, leading the Hoyas with a sixth place finish at the BIG EAST Championship, firing a 2-under par 214. A consistent player all season, Hall had four top-20 finishes this year and four among the top-30 during the spring.
In 84 career rounds, Hall had a career stroke average of 75.98, with two career top-10 finishes and five top-20.
