WASHINGTON - At the conclusion of the Georgetown University men's golf team's season, the Hoyas celebrated the collegiate careers of seniors Ed McCrossen (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) and Charlie vonArentschildt (Scottsdale, Ariz./Deerfield Academy) at the famed Blue Course at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.

The seniors, who both graduated this past weekend, were able to play a round at one of golf's most challenging, finest venues with their parents and members of the Georgetown University staff. Hoya alum Tim McBride (L '75 & '80), a past President of Congressional and father of former Hoya golfer Adam McBride (B'04), served as the lead sponsor for the team's 15th Annual event at Congressional Country Club, with fellow Georgetown alums Ed Machir (B'74) and Charlie Wolf (B'63) co-sponsoring the event.

"Having the opportunity to hold our annual year-end banquet at Congressional Country Club is incredibly special," McCrossen said. "As a player, it is an event that we look forward to all year long as the culminating experience to a year's worth of hard work. Additionally, one of the traditions is that the seniors on the team are invited to play the championship (Blue) course with their mothers or fathers - something that every player looks forward to for all four years. The event at Congressional is a testament to the incredible support and dedication from our alumni and Georgetown Golf sponsors - something that we are very appreciative of and separates us from many other golf programs in the country. Thank you to everyone for your continued support of Georgetown Golf."

The Hoyas concluded their season with a fourth place finish at the BIG EAST Championship on Tuesday, April 29, but McBride along with Machir and Wolf were able to bring the group together for one final special event

"We are so grateful to Tim and all he has done to continue this tradition at Congressional," Head Coach Tommy Hunter said. "He has assured an opportunity for future Hoyas to really "go out with a flash" - playing the famed Blue Course at Congressional with their Dad alongside, just measures up to something very, very special. We also thank Ed and Charlie for joining us as well, they have come on board as true Hoyas and enabled us to have two additional groups enjoying this important day."

"I'm a part of the Georgetown family and I wanted to continue this tradition as a part of my relationship with the University and the golf program," McBride said. "Adam was on the golf team and I'm grateful for all of the people he came in contact with and for how much they helped his golf game. This is a unique way that I'm able to give back."

Following the round of golf for the seniors and their fathers, the rest of the team joined for the evening awards banquet. Junior captain Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) was named The Nick Cook Most Valuable Player for the 2013-14 season. Podufal had back-to-back second place finishes to end the season, including a second place finish at The BIG EAST Championships. McCrossen and vonArentschildt, both four-year players and team captains, were recipients of the Hoya Award for "outstanding leadership and commitment to the men's golf program."

Life after graduation will begin quickly for the seniors, as McCrossen will begin in U.S. Generalist Sales at Barclays in New York City, while vonArentschildt will begin with CBRE, a commercial real estate services firm, in the Arizona offices, shortly after graduation.

"The thing I will miss most about playing golf at Georgetown are my teammates," McCrossen said. "Having the ability to play golf at premiere courses every afternoon with your seven best friends is a truly special. It has been an honor having the opportunity to represent Georgetown University for the past four years, one that I will forever cherish."
