WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Head Men's Golf Coach Tommy Hunter announced today that rising seniors Charlie vonArentschildt (Scottsdale, Ariz./Deerfield Academy [Mass.]) and Eddie McCrossen (Philadelphia, Pa./Chestnut Hill Academy) and rising junior Greg Podufal (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) will serve as the team's tri-captains for the 2013-14 season.
"Charlie, Eddie and Greg are certainly tremendous leaders, but more importantly, tremendous individuals who value sportsmanship and the responsibility associated with representing Georgetown," Hunter said. "They have gained the ultimate respect from their fellow teammates by their subtle passion for excellence and their desire to achieve."
VonArentschildt, who battled injuries during the year, posted a 77.42 stroke average in 12 rounds last year. His best finish was a 15-over par 231, finishing in 51st place, at the Golfweek Preview Challenge.
McCrossen posted a 77.50 stroke average in six rounds last season, with his best finish a tie for 38th place at the Georgetown Intercollegiate, shooting 12-over par 225.
Podufal led the team in stroke average this past season, carrying a 74.74 average, with a low round of 69 while competing in all 10 of the team's events. He had 88.9 percent of his rounds count toward the team total and was 5.29 strokes-off-the-lead each tournament. His best finish was a third place showing at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Villanova, posting a 5-over par 218.
The Hoyas posted four top-10 finishes in 10 events last season. The team's best finish was a tie for third place at the Wildcat Invitational.
