WASHINGTON - A pair of Georgetown golfers from the 2010 BIG EAST Tournament Championship team continued their strong play in recent summer events.

Junior Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity), playing on the Collegiate Players Tour this summer, shot a final round score of 5-under par 67 to come from behind for a win at the Bear Trace Collegiate Open, which was played at Bear Trace at Harrison Bay in Harrison, Tenn.

Hall struggled in the first round with a 5-over par 77, but came back and was tied for second place after firing a 2-under par 70 in the second round. He finished the 54-hole tournament at 2-under par 214, claiming a four stroke win.

"We had some bad weather (on the first day), but I played great in the second round and that helped put me back into things," Hall said. "On the final day, I was two back but I got to play in the final group and I had a great day. It was almost a flawless round."

Hall hit two birdies on the way out, but moved into the lead and pulled away with four birdies coming back in.

Hall also recently played in the Georgia State Amateur, finishing in 66th place with a 22-over par 310 (74-79-78-79) in the 72-hole tournament, held on the Deer Creek Course of the Landings Club in Savannah, Ga. from July 8-11.

"Pretty much the entire week, I hit the ball wall, but just couldn't get anything going," Hall said. "I had a bunch of big numbers in the later rounds and a bunch of rough breaks with some good shots. But I made the cut, got some good experience and I played with the eventual winner (Lee Knox of the University of Alabama) for the first two rounds."

Hall will be playing in another Collegiate Players Tour event next week at the Laurel Spring Golf Club in Suwanee, Ga., and then will look to qualify for the United States Amateur.

"It was good to finally put some things together," Hall said. "My sophomore year was a bit of a letdown because I didn't play as well as I'm accustomed to playing, so I'm hoping I can carry this over to the Fall."

Fellow junior Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) played in the 107th Trans-Mississippi Championship last week, held at Denver Country Club in Colorado. Dorfman was among the leaders in the field after a 1-under par 69 in the first round and finished with a 54-hole score of 8-over par 218.

Dorfman will be playing in the Colorado Open this weekend, being played at Green Valley Ranch Club in Denver.
