Men's Golf Looks to Move Up in Final Day of Gridiron Classic

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's golf team is currently in 15th place at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic, hosted by Notre Dame at the par-70, 7,023 yard Warren Golf Course in Southbend, Ind.

The Hoyas shot a 53-over par 613 in two rounds of the 54-hole tournament. Host ND currently leads the 15-team field with an 18-over par 578, while Iowa is in second place with a 30-over par 590. Ohio State resides in third place (591), and three teams are deadlocked at a 32-over par 592 for the fourth spot.

GU's top performer is junior Brandon Ellis (Westerville, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales), who is in a seven-way tie for 28th place at 9-over par 149. Sophomore Brian Dorfman (Greenwood Village, Colo./Cherry Creek) is at 13-over par 153 - good for a tie in the 48th spot - while senior Vincenzo Salina (Vandoeuvres, Switzerland/Institut Florimont) is tied for 60th with a 16-over par 156.

Sophomore Taylor Hall (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) and freshman Brad Cadigan (South Weymouth, Mass./Boston College Prep) are in 80th (21-over par 161) and 81st (22-over par 162) place, respectively.

Notre Dame's Josh Sandman is winning the tournament with a 2-under par 138, while Justin Bardgett of Colorado and Jace Long of Missouri are tied for the second spot with a 2-over 142.

The Hoyas will play the final round of the tournament today (Oct. 6) as they look to move up the leaderboard.

After the Gridiron Classic, Georgetown will resume play in two weeks (Oct. 19-20) when they host the Georgetown Intercollegiate at The Members Club at Four Streams in Beallsville, Md.
