WASHINGTON - Georgetown University’s men’s golf team looks to build on its championship performance at the 33rd Annual Georgetown Invitational as it closes out the fall schedule at the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate on Sunday. The 18-team event, hosted by Old Dominion, will encompass 54 holes over three days at the Kilmarlic Golf Club in Powells Point, N.C.
Sunday’s action starts at 9:15 a.m. for the Hoyas as they tee off on the 10th hole with Hartford and Delaware. Other programs in the field include Akron, Ball State, Campbell, Drake, Drexel, George Mason, Longwood, Manhattan, Marshall, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota State, host ODU, Saint Francis (Pa.), Saint Joseph’s and Towson.
Georgetown’s team will consist of senior co-captains Cole Berman (Philadelphia, Pa./Haverford School), Sam Madsen (Madison, Wis./Edgewood/Cardinal Gibbons [Fla.]) and Jack Musgrave (Chesterton, Ind./Andrean) along with sophomores Eduardo Blochtein (Delray Beach, Fla./Spanish River) and Patrick DiPasquale (Rochester, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit). Madsen leads the Blue & Gray with a 72.75 stoke average, followed by Blochtein (74.00), Berman and Musgrave (74.25) and DiPasquale (74.80).
The Hoyas are coming off a tournament victory at the 33rd Annual Georgetown Intercollegiate. Georgetown came back from an eight-stroke deficit after 36 holes to win the event by two strokes after the final 18. Berman finished in a six-way tie for first place after chipping in his final shot for eagle on the par-5, 18th hole. He would bow out in the third playoff hole after advancing past the initial cut to four golfers. Berman earned BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week accolades for his performance.
