WASHINGTON - Georgetown University’s men’s golf team signed Will O’Neill to a National Letter of Intent, as announced by Head Coach Tommy Hunter. O’Neill will join the Hoyas for the 2018-19 season following a standout amateur and prep career.
“We are excited to have Will join us this coming fall,” said Hunter. “He has competed on the national level and gained experiences that will translate to success at the Division I level.”
A product out of Morristown, N.J., O’Neill was the medalist at the New Jersey Section PGA Championship Qualifier and competed at the 2017 Junior PGA Championship in St. Albans, Mo. He was also an alternate at the 2017 U.S. Junior Amateur and the runner-up at the 2017 Metropolitan Golf Association Junior Championship.
O’Neill was named the 2017 Morris County Golfer of the Year and a first team all-state after medaling at the New Jersey State High School Championship Group 4 and the runner-up at the New Jersey State IAA Championship. He also posted multiple top 10 finishes on the Hurricane Junior Tour.
Georgetown graduates three senior co-captains in 2018 and will return eight golfers to team with O’Neill next season.
