Dec. 4, 2013
WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Men's Golf Head Coach Tommy Hunter has announced that Cole Berman and Sam Madsen have signed national letters of intent to begin competition for the Hoyas for the fall of 2014.
Berman qualified for the 2013 US Junior Amateur Qualified by finishing second overall at a US Junior qualifying event at Bethesda CC in Bethesda, Maryland with a 71-72, 143 (+3) performance. Berman went on to Stroke Play at the 2013 US Junior Amateur at Martis Camp Club in Truckee, California. While there, he qualified to advance to Match Play with rounds of 73-74 (+3), before losing in his first round match, 2&1.
"We are very happy that Cole and Sam will be with us at the start of next year's season," Hunter said. "Both are seasoned players who have performed well under high-pressured situations, which will help them make the transition from junior golf to Division I competition. Cole and Sam have enormous respect for the game and understand the importance of sportsmanship - values that embody what Georgetown golf is all about."
Berman and Madsen will join a Hoyas squad that will feature two seniors, two juniors and two sophomores in 2014.
The Georgetown men's golf team begins its spring on March 23 when they compete at the William & Mary Invitational at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va.
