WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's lacrosse team (4-6, 1-1 BIG EAST) could not keep pace with Villanova's (3-6, 2-0 BIG EAST) offense in the second half, as they were outscored 6-2 on the way to an 8-6 loss to the Wildcats on Wednesday evening at Multi-Sport Field in front of a national audience on ESPNU.

Sophomore attack Reilly O'Connor (Brooklin, Ontario/The Hill Academy) scored two goals and had one assist, while senior attack Travis Comeau (Red Deer, Alberta/The Hill Academy) had two goals in the loss. Redshirt sophomore Jake Haley (Grasonville, Md./Queen Anne's County) made 13 saves, but took the loss, as GU was held scoreless in the fourth quarter.

After Villanova's John Kluh scored the game's first goal, Comeau converted the Hoyas man-up situation with a highlight-worthy goal for the ESPNU audience, tying the game at one goal apiece. Redshirt junior Zac Guy (Tully, N.Y./Tully) scored just over a minute later on an assist from O'Connor, before sophomore midfielder Bo Stafford (Greenwich, Conn./Brunswick) added another 29-seconds later on the first of Charles McCormick's (Bronxville, N.Y./Bronxville) two assists, as GU took a 3-1 lead. The Wildcats answered with a fast break goal by Mark Jackson, as GU ended the first quarter with a 3-2 lead.

The Hoyas were outshot, 10-6, in the second quarter, but Haley made six saves and Comeau scored the lone goal of the quarter with 2:26 left, as Georgetown took a 4-2 lead into halftime.

O'Connor opened the third quarter with a goal on an assist from Stafford to take a three-goal lead, the largest by either team during the game. Villanova responded quickly, as Jack Rice started a three-goal run by the Wildcats, eventually tying the score at five goals apiece with 3:09 remaining in the third quarter.

O'Connor ended Villanova's run with 2:10 remaining in the third, but it would be the Hoyas last goal, as Villanova used a 3-0 fourth quarter advantage to win, 8-6.

Georgetown returns to action on Saturday, April 6 when they travel to Bethpage, N.Y. to take on BIG EAST rival St. John's. Live game updates for Saturday's action will be available through the Hoyas official Twitter account @HoyasMLacrosse.
