Jan. 10, 2013
WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Warne has announced seniors Brennan Bicknese (Ridgewood, N.J./Delbarton), Brian Casey (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) and Patrick Murray (Denver Colo./Kent Denver) have been named tri-captains for the 2013 season.
"I'm excited on the appointment of Pat, Brian and Brennan," Warne said. "They're going to be great ambassadors and have a great voice for our team. I expect their leadership to permeate throughout the locker room and I know that all of their decisions will be made with the best interests of Georgetown lacrosse at heart."
Bicknese has been a key part of the Hoyas defensive unit since his freshman season, starting 20 games during his career, including all 13 games during the 2012 season. Bicknese picked up 16 ground balls and was among the team leaders with 11 caused turnovers last season.
Casey, an All-BIG EAST Second Team selection during his junior season, led the Hoyas in points (35), tied for the team lead in goals (20) and was second in assists (15), after moving from midfield to attack in the Hoyas sixth game of the season. Casey has compiled 58 points during his first three seasons on the Hilltop.
Murray played in 13 games, starting three on defense last season, finishing with 17 ground balls and six caused turnovers. The Denver, Colorado native has played in 33 games since arriving at Georgetown, playing close defense and taking face-offs during his first two seasons with the Hoyas.
"These three guys have an understanding of what it is going to take for us to be successful and are already setting the standard for their teammates," Warne said.
The Hoyas begin practice under first year Head Coach Kevin Warne on Monday, January 14 in preparation for the 2013 season. Georgetown will open the season at Multi-Sport Field when they take on Lafayette College on Saturday, February 16 at Noon.
