WASHINGTON - Junior attack Travis Comeau (Red Deer, Alberta[Canada]/The Hill Academy) and junior defender Patrick Murray (Denver Colo./Kent Denver) were both named to the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Honor Roll for their role in the Hoyas 12-7 victory over Detroit Mercy at Multi-Sport Field on Saturday afternoon.
Comeau scored a career-high six goals and also picked up four ground balls in the victory. A preseason All-BIG EAST selection, Comeau exploded against the Titans after being held scoreless in the team's opening loss to No. 7 Maryland. He scored three goals in the first quarter to put the Hoyas in front, then came back in the third quarter after Georgetown's offense had stalled and scored three more goals to help put the game away.
Murray, who made his second career start at close defense against Detroit Mercy, had career-highs with five groundballs and three caused turnovers. Murray and the Hoyas forced 28 turnovers and limited the Titans to seven goals in the team's victory. This is Murray's first BIG EAST weekly honor.
Georgetown returns to action on Saturday, March 10 when they host No. 20 Harvard at 1 p.m. on Multi-Sport Field. The game will be broadcast on MASN with Leif Elsmo and Evan Washburn on the call. Live audio of the game can also be heard on the Hoyas official athletic website - www.guhoyas.com.
