WASHINGTON - Sophomore attack Reilly O'Connor (Brooklin, Ontario/The Hill Academy) was named to the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll for the first time in his career after a career-high 10 point performance in the Georgetown University men's lacrosse team's (3-3, 1-0 BIG EAST) conference opening win over Providence on Saturday.
O'Connor posted career-highs with four goals and six assists, leading Georgetown to 16 goals against the Friars, its highest offensive output since May 15, 2005, a 16-6 win over Army in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
"I think it was just everyone doing their job and playing their role," O'Connor said following the game. "Coach Rewkowski put in a great game plan and everyone executed. A lot of unselfish plays, everyone was drawing their man and I just had to put the ball in the net or make an easy feed."
O'Connor leads the team with 21 points, and 11 assists, while he is second on the team with 10 goals, behind on senior attack Brian Casey, who leads GU with 11 goals. O'Connor has had two points or more in five of the Hoyas games this season, with his previous career-high of four points coming in the season-opener with Lafayette.
Georgetown hosts the defending National Champions, No. 9 Loyola University (5-2, 2-0 ECAC) on Wednesday night at Multi-Sport Field, with the opening face-off scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets are now available for the Hoyas game with the Greyhounds and all men's lacrosse home games.
