WASHINGTON - Junior midfielder Brian Casey (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second time this season, after helping the No. 18 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team (4-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) earn wins against Mount St. Mary's and Providence College last week. Casey scored the game-winning goal in both wins.
Casey, who finished last week with three goals and three assists in two games, saved his scoring for crucial moments in both games to help GU improve to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in BIG EAST play, while maintaining the No. 18 spot in both polls.
Through five games, Casey leads Georgetown in points with 15 (7 goals, 8 assists) and is tied for sixth in the BIG EAST averaging 3.0 points per game. He is third in the league, averaging 1.60 assists per game and second in the league with two game-winning goals, both scored last week.
Casey and the Hoyas will travel to Baltimore, Md. to take on No. 6 Loyola (Md.) at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, before returning to Multi-Sport Field to host No. 14 Duke on Saturday with a 12:02 face-off time. Saturday's game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
