WASHINGTON - Graduate student Tyler Knarr (Eagleville, Pa./LaSalle College) was named to the BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon. It is the fourth time this season that Knarr has earned weekly honors from the conference.
Knarr went 16-for-20 on face-offs and picked up 10 ground balls in Georgetown's 10-8 win over Providence on Saturday afternoon. Knarr has now won at least .500 percent of his face-offs in each game this season and picked up 10 or more ground balls in six of Georgetown's 11 games.
Early in the third quarter against Providence, Knarr broke his own single-season ground ball record from last season. His 118 ground balls (10.73/game) leads the BIG EAST and the nation, while his 273 ground balls places second in program history and is tied for ninth among active players.
Knarr also passed Brian Tabb (C'12) for second place in Georgetown history in face-off wins on Saturday. He has been among the nation's best at the "X" during the last two seasons, currently placing second in the BIG EAST and seventh in the nation with a .638 face-off win percentage (157-for-246). He is eighth among active players in career face-off win percentage (.605).
The Hoyas return to action on Saturday night against Lehigh University (9-3, 5-2 BIG EAST) when they play for the Relentless Cup at Ridley High School. The opening face-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. The Relentless Cup benefits the HEADstrong Foundation. For more information on the HEADstrong Foundation, please visit: www.HEADstrong.org.
