May 9, 2011
WASHINGTON - Graduate student attackman Rickey Mirabito (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) was named BIG EAST Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week after his seven point, two goal, five assist performance in the Georgetown Men's Lacrosse teams 11-9 victory over No. 9 Villanova on Saturday evening. Senior long stick middie Barney Ehrmann (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly honor roll for the second time this season.
Mirabito posted a season high in points with seven and a career high five assists in the victory, earning his second conference weekly honor of the season and his first BIG EAST player of the week honor. Mirabito earned a spot on the weekly honor roll on March 21 after Georgetown's victory over Providence earlier in the season.
Georgetown has earned the last two offensive player of the week honors, as sophomore attackman Davey Emala (Baltimore, Md./Gilman) was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after the Hoyas win over Villanova last week.
Mirabito's big game gave him 30 assists on the season, the most in the BIG EAST and the fifth highest single season total in program history. He will also end his Georgetown career tied as the 11th leading goal scorer in Hoya history and 14th in points with 122.
Ehrmann earned his second appearance on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, picking up three ground balls and causing four turnovers for the Hoyas.
