Brodie Merrill, Kyle Sweeney and Barney Ehrmann Named to 2013 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game

Three former Georgetown University men's lacrosse All-Americans, Brodie Merrill, Kyle Sweeney and Barney Ehrmann were selected to the 2013 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star Game, when rosters were announced last week. Merrill was selected for the eighth time, while Sweeney earned his sixth selection and Ehrmann received his first nod. The MLL All-Star Game, presented by Moe's Southwest Grill, will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 7 p.m. at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, N.C. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2. Merrill, a two-time All-America selection on the Hilltop, has gone on to become one of the most decorated players in the history of the MLL. The six-time MLL Defensive Player of the Year is playing for the Hamilton Nationals where he is currently fourth in the league with 55 ground balls. Merrill is the MLL's all-time ground ball leader. Sweeney, a three-time All-America selection on the Hilltop, will make his sixth appearance in the MLL All-Star Game. Through nine games for the Boston Cannons, Sweeney has four goals and three assists to go along with 21 ground balls. Ehrmann, an honorable mention All-America selection in 2011, will be one of 15 players to make his first all-star appearancein 2013. Ehrmann is among the league leaders with 26 ground balls, in his third season with a star-studded Chesapeake Bayhawks team that features eight all-stars.
