WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Warne announced that Tim O'Branski has joined the Hoyas coaching staff for the 2013 season. O'Branski, a Binghamton, N.Y. native, comes to the Hilltop as an assistant coach after spending three seasons as a coach at Salisbury University, helping the Sea Gulls to a record of 65-3 including three Division III National Championship appearances and consecutive Division III National Championships.
"Tim fits the description of what we want to add to this coaching staff," Head Coach Kevin Warne said. "Being a part of four national championship teams at Salisbury, he understands the qualities it takes to perform at a top level. Tim will be heavily involved in our face-off planning and running the substitution box, as well as behind the scenes aspects, like scouting and breaking down film, that are very important to our program. He's a hard worker, he's just getting his start at the Division I level and he has a bright future ahead of him. Our guys will benefit greatly from his experiences."
At Georgetown, O'Branski will be working with the face-off unit and offensive personnel. His responsibilities also include the editing and analysis of game film. On game day, O'Branski will run the substitution box.
At Salisbury, O'Branski transitioned into coaching directly following a successful playing career with the Sea Gulls, helping to continue the program's dominance at the Division III level. As an assistant coach, O'Branski handled the defensive midfield positional group as well as coordinating the scout team and assisting with the offense. At Salisbury, he served as an advisor and tutor for the team's student-athletes while also creating individual and team strength and conditioning programs. In addition to his role as recruiting coordinator, he scouted other opponents and acquired, edited and analyzed game film to develop scouting reports to help Salisbury prepare for upcoming opponents. During his time on staff, O'Branski delivered keynote presentations with Head Coach Jim Berkman, the NCAA's winningest men's lacrosse coach, at the IMLCA and US Lacrosse national conventions.
On the field, after transferring from St. Vincent College, O'Branski was a three-year letterwinner at Salisbury, being named a team captain during his senior season, 2009. He was a part of the Sea Gulls undefeated 2007 and 2008 NCAA Division III Men's National Champion squads. He also helped the team to three consecutive Capital Athletic Conference Tournament Championships, from 2007-2009.
O'Branski graduated with his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish in 2009 and Master of Arts in Teaching in 2011, both at Salisbury.
