WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's lacrosse Head Coach Kevin Warne has announced that graduate student long stick midfielder Tyler Knarr (Eagleville, Pa./LaSalle College) and junior attackman Reilly O'Connor (Brooklin, Ontario/The Hill Academy) will be team captains for the 2014 season.

Knarr and O'Connor were voted captains by their teammates after coming off breakout seasons for the Hoyas. Both were named All-BIG EAST Second Team, after helping lead GU to the postseason for the first time since 2007.

"I'm very excited that the team has chosen Tyler and Reilly as this year's captains," Head Coach Kevin Warne said. "I think they balance each other's leadership abilities very well. They are great examples of what this program is all about and I'm looking forward to them leading their teammates on and off the field."

Knarr placed among the nation's leading face-off specialists, winning 184-of-296 attempts. His .622 winning percentage was tied for fourth in the nation, while his 184 face-off wins is second in Georgetown single-season history behind Andy Corno's 186 face-off wins. Knarr also set a single-season GU record with 112 ground balls, while finishing ninth in the nation with 7.47 ground balls per game.

O'Connor became the first Hoya to top the 50 point mark in a season, since Steve Dusseau posted 69 points in 2002. He led the team with 26 goals and 30 assists, while finishing among the BIG EAST leaders in both categories.

The Hoyas open its 2014 season when they host Mount Saint Mary's on Wednesday, February 12 at Multi-Sport Field.
