WASHINGTON - Georgetown University’s men’s lacrosse team released its 2018 schedule, as announced by Head Coach Kevin Warne on Monday. The Hoyas host a slate that features eight home games at Cooper Field and four contests against teams that made the 2017 NCAA Championships.
Two road exhibition games, against defending National Champion Maryland and UMBC, serve at the Blue & Gray’s final tune ups before the season opener against High Point on February 13 at Cooper Field. Following the opener, the Hoyas travel to face Robert Morris and Towson on back-to-back weekends on February 17 and 24, before closing out the month at home against Mount St. Mary’s on February 27.
A road trek to Hofstra, Warne’s alma mater, on March 3 leads to a pair of home contests during Georgetown’s Spring Break. The Hoyas welcome Marist to the Nation’s Capital on March 6 followed by Hobart on March 10. Games at Drexel on March 17 and home against Loyola on March 21 lead into BIG EAST play for five of GU’s final six contests of the regular season.
Conference play kicks off on March 24 as the Blue & Gray heads to the Midwest to battle two-time defending BIG EAST champion Marquette. The Hoyas then return home to host Denver on March 31 and Providence on April 7, followed by a road swing at Villanova on April 14.
A lone nonconference contest against NJIT on April 21 will serve at Georgetown’s senior day before wrapping up the regular season with a BIG EAST showdown at St. John’s.
The Hoyas look to return to the BIG EAST Championship after a two-year hiatus. The four-team draw takes place from May 3-5 in Villanova, Pa., with the winner earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
