WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's soccer team and Head Coach Brian Wiese signed its eighth student-athlete to a National Letter of Intent last week. The incoming freshman class will look to build its own history after last season's magical run to the national championship game.

Joining the Hoyas in 2013 is goalkeeper Mitchell Auer from Peoria, Ill. He joins prior NLI signees: Jonathan Azzinnari (Nutley, N.J. / Player Development Academy / Midfielder), Brett Campbell (Wallingford, Pa. / FC Delco Academy / Forward), Bakie Goodman (Sarasota, Fla. / Clearwater Chargers Academy / Midfielder), PJ Koscher (Bel Air, Md. / Baltimore Bays Chelsea Academy / Defender), Alex Muyl (New York, N.Y. / New York Red Bulls Academy / Forward), Jared Odenbeck (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte Soccer Academy / Defender) and Josh Yaro (Ghana / Right to Dream Academy/Santa Barbara Soccer Club / Defender).

Mitchell Auer / Peoria, Ill. / Dunlap H.S. / Goalkeeper

Auer comes to the Blue and Gray from Peoria, Ill. where he played club soccer for USDA St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro from 2011-2013. Auer focused solely on playing club soccer in 2012 but prior to that suited up for three seasons at Peoria Notre Dame High School as well. In 2010 Peoria Notre Dame won the Illinois state title along with a conference and sectional championship and was ranked third in the nation by the NSCAA after a 26-1-0 season. In 2011 Peoria Notre Dame ranked third in the state and Auer was named First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Sectional and First Team All-Area. The team went 21-6-0. As a sophomore Auer recorded eight shutouts and had a 0.88 goals against average. His junior season Auer recorded 13 shutouts and a 0.64 GAA. An Honor Roll and Dean's List student Auer is an active volunteer in youth soccer coaching.

Head Coach Brian Wiese on Auer: We got to know Mitchell at our summer camp and we are very excited for his potential to be a top flight Division I goalkeeper. He is 6-5" with a great frame and a dedicated work ethic. He will be expected to compete immediately in our talented pool of goalkeepers.
