Incoming Freshmen Appear in Academy Playoffs

WASHINGTON - With the approach of the 2017-18 school year, student-athletes are finishing up their summer training and preparing to head to the Hilltop this fall. The incoming freshmen for the Georgetown men's soccer team had success over the summer in their final season of U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) play.

Derek Dodson
Sockers FC
Dodson was named to the USSDA Central Conference Best XI after his play for the season. Sockers FC won the Central U-17/18 Mid-American Division with a record of 17-5-3 for 54 points. The team also earned a berth to the USSDA Playoffs. The squad went 1-1-1 in group play to finish third in Group D.

Witt Conger
Capital Area Railhawks- CASL
The squad was third in the East U-17/18 Southeast Division and earned an automatic spot in the playoffs with a record of 19-5-6 for 63 points. The squad went 1-2-0 to finish second in Group F.

Ethan Koehler
PDA
PDA and Koehler finished with a record of 14-8-4 for 46 points to place fourth in the East U-17/18 Atlantic Division. The squad was the second wildcard in the playoffs. The squad failed to advance out of group play.

Foster McCune
Bethesda Soccer Club
McCune and Bethesda were fifth in the East U-17/18 Atlantic Division with a record of 13-7-5 for 44 points. The team earned the fifth wildcard spot in the USSDA Playoffs. They did not make it out of group play.

Jacob Montes
Portland Timbers Academy
Montes and the Timbers Academy finished sixth in the West U-17/18 Northwest Division. The team went 12-13-6 for the season.


 

 

Sean O'Hearn and Chris Le
PA Classics
The squad went 8-9-8 with 32 points in the East U-17/18 Division finishing seventh.

Rio Hope-Gund and Jack Beer
NYSC
Hope-Gund and Beer played with New York Soccer Club (NYSC), which is not part of the USSDA Academy but has seen success in the region.
