WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's soccer sophomore forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph's) was named the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after an outstanding weekend helping the Hoyas go 1-1 at Shaw Field.

Allen helped in all three goals of a 3-0 win against West Virginia. The Preseason All-BIG EAST performer scored the first two, including the game-winning goal, and assisted on the third in the shutout. On Sunday, the sophomore also had a number of solid runs in the tough 1-0 double overtime loss to No. 9 New Mexico.

This is the first weekly award for the Blue & Gray this season and the fourth of Allen's career. As a freshman he was the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week on three occasions.

Georgetown is 2-2 overall with victories over Stanford and West Virginia. The Hoyas are currently ranked No. 11 in the NSCAA Coaches' Poll and No. 13 by TopDrawerSoccer.com.

Georgetown will host Duquesne University on Thursday at Shaw Field. It is the third of a four-game homestand for the Blue & Gray. Live stats as well as a new and improved broadcast featuring Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
