Washington, D.C. - The No. RV/25 Georgetown University men's soccer team (7-2-2, 2-2-2 BIG EAST) will host the No. 13/11 University of Connecticut Huskies (5-3-3, 3-3-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday at noon at North Kehoe Field in another BIG EAST match-up. The Hoyas are coming off their second conference tie in a row after playing Seton Hall to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
UConn is in search of a victory after a two-game conference slide with 1-0 losses to both West Virginia and Providence. Senior O'Brian White is leading the squad with 10 points notching four goals on the season, while classmate Akeem Priestley has three goals and two assists on the year for eight total points.
The Hoyas have battled in three close games in recent weeks coming away with a 1-0-2 record. In the squad's last outing, the Hoya offense overpowered the Pirate defense but Georgetown couldn't find the back of the net more than once in 22 shots resulting in a draw. The defense also continued to shine allowing just 14 shots against one of the top scoring offenses in the league. The keepers have given up only five goals in 11 contests this season.
Georgetown has had limited success against the Huskies, especially in recent years. GU is 8-12-1 against UConn with its last win coming at home in 2001 in a 1-0 victory. Last season, the Huskies defeated the Hoyas 1-0 in overtime in Connecticut.
Kickoff is scheduled for noon at North Kehoe Field on the Georgetown campus. Live stats and an audio stream will be available at www.guhoyas.com. Fans are encouraged to attend the men's soccer game at noon and buy a $10 ticket that will also be admission for Saturday's 2 p.m., Homecoming football game against the University of Pennsylvania.
