WASHINGTON - The No. 11 Georgetown University men's soccer squad (9-3-1, 2-1-1 BIG EAST) will host the No. 18 Butler University Bulldogs (9-3-1, 3-1-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday at Shaw Field in a 1 p.m., BIG EAST Conference matchup. The Hoyas are returning home after a two-game conference road trip.

Last week, the Blue & Gray went 1-1 with a 1-0 victory at No. 25 Providence on Wednesday where freshman midfielder Bakie Goodman (Sarasota, Fla./Pine View School for the Gifted) scored the game winner on an assist from junior midfielder Tyler Rudy (Olney, Md./Sherwood). Georgetown fell, 2-1, on Saturday at Xavier in a tough matchup against the Musketeers. Sophomore forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph's) scored early, but it wasn't enough.

On Monday, Goodman was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Besides his work in the Providence win, he started and assisted on GU's lone goal in the contest at Xavier on Saturday. The award was the first of Goodman's career. It also marks the fifth nod to the Honor Roll for a Hoya so far this season.

Allen leads the team in scoring with 19 points on eight goals and three assists. Senior captain Steve Neumann (New Hope, Pa./Council Rock North) is second with six goals and three assists for 15 points, while freshman Alex Muyl (New York, N.Y./Bard) has two goals and a team-high five assists for nine points.

Junior goalkeeper Tomas Gomez (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) has seven shutouts on the season, the Hoyas have nine overall, and has tallied 39 saves so far this year.

The No. 18 Bulldogs are 9-3-1 on the season. Last weekend, sophomore Vincent Mitchell and junior Zach Steinberger each scored a goal and the Bulldogs' defense did the rest to lead Butler to a 2-0 victory over Seton Hall. It was the first BIG EAST road victory for the Bulldogs, who improved to 3-1 in conference play.

David Goldsmith leads the way with 20 points on nine goals and two assists. He is followed by Steinberger who has six goals and three assists on the season for 15 points. Jeff Adkins has posted a team-best seven helpers on the year. In goal, Jon Dawson has started all 12 games with four shutouts, 55 saves and a GAA of 1.20.

This is the first meeting between the squads.

Kickoff on Saturday at Shaw Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. Live stats and a webcast featuring Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser will be available at www.GUHoyas.com.
