No. 6/8 Hoyas to Face Seton Hall on Wednesday

WASHINGTON - The No. 6/8 Georgetown University men's soccer team will continue BIG EAST Blue Division Conference play on Wednesday afternoon as the squad travels to Seton Hall University for a 1 p.m., kickoff at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Hoyas are currently 13-2-1 overall and 4-2-0 in BIG EAST play with two games remaining.

On Wednesday, the Blue & Gray defeated Providence College, 1-0, at Glay Field. Junior forward Steve Neumann (New Hope, Pa./Council Rock North) scored the game winner in the 82nd minute on an assist from senior Ian Christianson (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Christian Life). Sophomore goalkeeper Tomas Gomez (Webster Groves, Mo./Webster Groves) had seven saves in the net in the victory.

Riemer Scores Two as No. 20 Hoyas Down Seton Hall, 3-1
The No. 20 Georgetown University men's soccer squad improved to 8-2-3 on the season and 3-1-0 in BIG EAST Conference play on Wednesday evening with a 3-1 victory over the Seton Hall University Pirates (4-7-2, 0-4-0 BIG EAST) at Owen T. Carroll Field. Junior forward Andy Riemer (McLean, Va./Georgetown Prep) scored two goals and sophomore forward Steve Neumann (New Hope, Pa./Central Bucks South) added a goal and and two assists in the victory.

On Monday, Gomez earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll marking his first weekly award from the conference. In the win over PC, Gomez managed seven saves and his fourth shutout of the season.

Leading the way for Georgetown is freshman forward Brandon Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./St. Joseph's) who has 20 points with nine goals including six game winners as well as two assists. Neumann has 18 points with five goals and a team and conference-high eight assists, while senior forward Andy Riemer (McLean, Va./Georgetown Prep) rounds out the top three with six goals for 12 points.

In the net, Gomez has appeared in ten games with 35 saves and four shutouts to his credit.

On Saturday, the Pirates fell to No. 5 Marquette, 2-0, in Milwaukee, Wis. After playing MU to a scoreless tie through 45 minutes of action, the Seton Hall University men's soccer team gave up two goals in the second half.

 

 

For the season, Max Garcia is leading the way with six goals and three assists for 15 points on the season. He is followed by George Velazquez with four goals and three assists for 11 points. In the net, Michael Kuzan has 48 saves, while Kevin Bonder has posted 25 stops.

Georgetown is 13-14-2 all-time against the Pirates, and 4-1-1 all-time under Georgetown Head Coach Brian Wiese. Last year, the Hoyas downed SHU, 3-1, in New Jersey. The Blue & Gray will host the Pirates on Saturday at North Kehoe Field to close out the regular season.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Owen T. Carroll Field. Live stats and a webcast will be available through the Seton Hall athletic website.
