Former Hoya Soccer Standout Dan Gargan Named Colorado Rapids' Most Improved Player
Oct. 25, 2006 Washington, D.C. - Former Georgetown University men's soccer standout Dan Gargan earned the Colorado Rapids' Most Improved Player Award as announced by the Major League Soccer (MLS) team during their playoff game vs. FC Dallas last Saturday. The Rapids' award winners were selected based on players' performances over the course of the entire season as voted on by members of the local Colorado media. Gargan earned the award after showing the most marked improvement over the course of the 2006 season. Gargan, who joined the Rapids in 2005, solidified a spot in the starting lineup with 15 starts and appeared in 22 games this season on the defensive line. The Philadelphia, Pa. native ranked 11th on the team with more than 1400 minutes played. Gargan and the No. 4 seed Rapids trail No.1 seed FC Dallas in the MLS Western Conference Semifinals, 2-1. Colorado needs a win on Saturday, October 28 in Dallas to extend the series.
