No. 18 Georgetown Hosts Creighton in Regular Season Finale

WASHINGTON - The No. 18 Georgetown University men's soccer squad (11-3-2, 5-2-1 BIG EAST) will host the Creighton University Bluejays on Wednesday in a 2 p.m. matchup at Shaw Field in the team’s regular season finale. The game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) with Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser calling the action.

Last week, the Hoyas went 0-1-1 with a double overtime scoreless tie on Wednesday against Providence, and then falling, 1-0, at St. John’s on Saturday. Georgetown has clinched one of the top four seeds in the BIG EAST Championship and Wednesdays results will solidify seeding.

Georgetown Falls at No. 24 Creighton in Regular Season Finale
The Georgetown University men's soccer squad (6-9-2, 3-4-2 BIG EAST) closed out the regular season with a 3-0 loss at No. 24 Creighton University (9-5-3, 5-3-1 BIG EAST) on Thursday evening in Omaha, Neb. The Blue & Gray needed a win to move on to postseason play.

Freshman forward Derek Dodson (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) is leading the way for the Blue & Gray with six goals and two assists for 14 points on the season. He is followed by sophomore forward Achara (Enugu, Nigeria/Berkshire School [Mass.]) with six goals and one assist for 13 points on the year. Senior midfielder Declan McCabe (Weston, Mass./The Rivers School) and senior midfielder Christopher Lema (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield Memorial) round out the top three with 10 points apiece on the year.

In the goal, junior JT Marcinkowski (Alamo, Calif./De La Salle) has made 50 saves with a 0.60 GAA in 1,448:48 minutes played. He also has eight shutouts on the year.

The Bluejays (9-5-2, 3-3-2 BIG EAST) enter Wednesday's match in the fifth place in the BIG EAST standings in search of a win to clinch the No. 5 seed in the postseason conference tournament. Senior forward Ricky Lopez-Espin leads the team with 10 goals. He also has three assists to pace the squad with 23 points. The Bluejays have scored a league-best 15 goals during eight conference matches. Senior goalkeeper Michael Kluver is 9-4-1 with six shutouts and a 1.05 GAA.



The Hoyas are 3-3-1 all-time against the Bluejays and 2-1-1 at home. Last year, Georgetown fell, 3-0, in Omaha. The previous year, the squads met twice at Shaw Field. Georgetown won, 2-1, during the regular season, and then added a 2-1 double overtime decision to win the BIG EAST Championship.
