Georgetown to Host Cincinnati in First Round of BIG EAST Tournament
Nov. 4, 2008
Washington, D.C. - The Georgetown University men's soccer team will host the University of Cincinnati Bearcats in the first round of the 2008 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Tournament on Thursday. The third-seeded Hoyas are 10-4-3 overall and finished with a 5-3-3 mark in the BIG EAST. They will welcome the Bearcats, the sixth seed out of the league's Red Division, to North Kehoe Field at 2 p.m. In Head Coach Brian Wiese's third season, the Hoyas have already had an outstanding year tying a number of school records and earning the program's highest seed in the tournament since the BIG EAST went back to its divisional alignment in 2005. Under Wiese, the Hoyas have improved each season after finishing seventh in the league in 2006 and fifth in 2007. This will be just the second time in program history the two teams will meet and the first tournament matchup. Last season, Georgetown suffered a tough 2-1 loss at Cincinnati during the regular season. The Bearcats are currently 7-9-2 overall and finished conference play with a mark of 4-6-1. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m., at North Kehoe Field. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for children. A live webcast and Gametracker will be available at www.GUHoyas.com. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals where that squad will face second-seeded USF on Nov. 9 in Tampa, Fla.
