RICHMOND, Va. - The Georgetown University men’s tennis team opened the 2018 spring season with a pair of 4+1 matches against VCU and Drexel on Friday in Richmond, Virginia. The squad fell to both opponents, but had some solid performances to begin the year.
In the matchup with VCU, two matches went to three sets at freshman Connor Lee (San Marino, Calif./San Marino) fell 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 in the third position. In the fourth singles match of the day, freshman Rohan Kamdar (Singapore/Anglo Chinese School) battled with his opponent to a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 defeat.
In the second match of the day against the Dragons, freshman Mark Militzer (Charleston, S.C./Connections Academy) won at the No. 1 spot defeating Hamza Laalej, 7-5, 6-2. In the third position, it was senior Marco Lam (Hong Kong, China/Diocesan Boys' School) who defeated Sanil Jagtiani, 6-3, 6-4, to pick up the second victory of the afternoon.
The Hoyas will be back in action on February 4 as the squad travels to the University of Pennsylvania for a dual match.
